NPE 2013 Recap
Sweepers and pavers flocked to the National Pavement Expo this year while exhibitors dazzled them with their latest equipment and up-to-date knowledge and technology.
The sessions were informative and well attended. John Ball with Top Quality Paving gave a great presentation and answered questions on applying best practices to your paving operation. Murphy Pavement Technology’s Timothy Murphy’s session on “Asphalt Maintenance Basics: Cracksealing, Patching, Sealcoating and Overlays” provided the audience with a great overview of asphalt problems and how to fix them.
The roundtables were packed with people who talked about a variety of topics including how to work safely and accident free, finding and retaining quality employees, business continuation, route optimization, and a property manager’s perspective. Participants had time to sit in on four roundtable discussions on the topic of their choice. At the end, the moderators gave an overview of their covered subjects and best ideas.
And, where would be without customers? Brett Neal from Walkie Talkie Marketing Communications gave an informative talk on “How to Dominate the Web with an Effective Website and Web Marketing Program” clearly showing off his expertise on the subject and garnering a lot of interest in search engine optimization.
Since all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, there were plenty of opportunities to hit Broadway in the evenings. Attendees and exhibitors met over food and drinks at several sponsored dinners and other social events, including a pub crawl. SealMaster’s happy hour with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres was packed as was NAPSA’s event at the Wild Horse.
If this year’s event was any indication, next year’s NPE in Fort Lauderdale, FL, January 8-11, should be just as informative and fun—with warmer weather to boot!
